Join Feminists for Liberty at the Women’s March on Washington and LibertyCon

Update: the #WomensWave rally has been moved from the Lincoln Memorial to Freedom Plaza, near the White House (1455 Pennsylvania Ave NW).

“Mr. President, how long must women wait for liberty?” Over 100 years later, suffragette Amelia Himes Walker’s words still ring true. Yes, women won the right to vote and have made many important gains since then. But women—and everyone—in America have grown less free as government power, red tape, spying, and control have grown.

That’s why we’ll be showing up for the Women’s March on Washington on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019.

And this year, the march coincides with LibertyCon 2019! On Jan. 17-19, libertarian activists from around the world will gather in downtown D.C. for Students For Liberty‘s annual conference

Feminists for Liberty wants to make sure that libertarian women and libertarian feminism are well-represented at the D.C. march, so whether you’re attending the conference or not, please join us for a field trip to Freedom Plaza that Saturday.

We’ll be there from 1:30-4:30 p.m. and you’re welcome to caravan with us from the conference or drop by anytime.

Afterward, we invite you to join us for drinks and post-march camaraderie at Allegory bar (1201 K St NW, in the Eaton hotel, just around the corner from LibertyCon is being held). We’ll be there from 5-6 p.m. Conference-goers who didn’t attend the march are also welcome to stop by. And folks coming from the march can carpool with us.

WHO: Libertarian feminists (and those curious) are welcome regardless of gender or sex.

WHEN & WHERE: If you’re coming from LibertyCon, meet us in front of the Marriott Marquis Washington (where the conference is being held) at 12:45 p.m. We’ll caravan down to the rally together at 1:00 p.m. sharp. OR, swing by the steps of the Lincoln Memorial anytime between 1:30-4 p.m.

WHAT TO WEAR: Don your best protest tee, come dressed as a suffragette if you’re feeling fancy, rock your favorite libertarian feminist swag, or just show up as you are. We’ll have plenty of extra sashes and signs.

Fall Salon & Social

But, isn’t feminist collectivist?

That’s a question we hear a lot, and so we’re making it the roundtable topic at our very first public “salon & social.” Come for a group discussion, led by Feminists for Liberty founders Kat Murti & Elizabeth Nolan Brown, and stay for some unstructured drinking and fraternizing afterward (or come and go when you can; this is a casual affair).

When: next Friday, Nov. 30, from 6-9 p.m.

Where: Exiles Bar DC
620 U St NW ~ second floor

Who: All are welcome, regardless of sex or gender.

Snacks are on us, and happy hour drink specials go ’til eight.

We’ll do the ‘salon’ portion from 6:30-7:15 p.m. Stick around afterward to continue chatting and hanging out – we have the upstairs to ourselves until 9 p.m. (when things open up for karaoke, which anyone is welcome to stay for).
