2021 Video Contest

Introducing the 2nd Feminists for Liberty Video Contest! Last year’s contest was such a fun success, we’re doing it again. This year, we’re stepping things up, with more awards available and a special screening of the winners at this summer’s FreedomFest

Like last year, videos will be evaluated by a panel of liberty movement judges, who will score videos based on not just how they look but the strength of the ideas and messages they convey as well.

Deadline: May 8, 2021

The Prompts

We’re looking for videos that address one of the following questions:

  • What does libertarian feminism look like in the 2020s? Tell us what issues you think are most important for libertarian feminists to focus on now and in the near future. Show us how a project, policy, or personal achievement of yours embodies the modern libertarian feminist spirit.  Show us a mutual aid network, innovative response to social issues, private charity effort, inspiring example of entrepreneurship, art project, or advocacy initiative around you. Talk about what you’ve learned about liberty, autonomy, and other big ideas during a year of disease and lockdowns. Play us your music. Show us your art. Etcetera. These are just suggestions — please interpret the prompt as it inspires you.
  • What issues deserve more attention from today’s liberty movement? Tell us about topics you’re passionate about and wish that more libertarians would be, too.
  • What do many feminists get wrong about ________? Tell us about a popular feminist issue where people tend to reach for big-government solutions and more libertarian alternative to addressing this issue.

The Basics

Submit a short (roughly 2 -7 minute) video essay that shows the importance of individual liberty to feminism (or vice versa!).  Your video can be an educational video essay or a human-interest piece. Both direct-to-camera and more traditionally produced videos will be considered. Videos will be evaluated on content first and presentation second so video production experience is not required!
